Description: Daunkette is an akita / shepherd mix. She is very friendly and enjoys being handled, but is very same-sex aggressive to other animals. Daunkette has a very "alpha" personality. She was named for her uncanny resemblance to her father Daunk.

Story: Daunk, Big Momma, Pretty Girl, Smiley, Ralph, Teddy, Yeti, Howler, Daunkette, Mystic, Red Stripe, Bear and Chewey were part of the New Hampshire rescue, where we were to get one animal, Delaware, who was being transported with the NH animals but not part of the NH Rescue. Daunkette, Howler, Red Stripe, Mystic, Bear and Chewey were sent to EagleWolf, the day after they came in. They had all been part of a breeding operation in Colebrook, NH, and the breeder died. All of the animals that went to EagleWolf later returned.

Yeddy, Unk, Dream, Ten Bears, Cherokee, Washi, Monty, and KK were personal animals of the owners of the EagleWolf rescue in Tennessee. Timber, Autumn, Zeus, Bailey, Noshi, Mingo, Maia, Fang and Hamlet were EagleWolf rescues. Strider, Matsi and Tadu were personal animals of two EagleWolf volunteers. All were relocated from the EagleWolf facility in January, 2003 following an apparent case of abandonment, though it was later found that the issue was much more complicated. The EagleWolf volunteers remained at Full Moon Farm for a time and left in May, 2003 taking four animals with them that were not returned until 2005.

Daunkette is very sweet and friendly, and enjoys coming up to most folks to say hi and get scritches. Howler is a little more reserved. He's very curious about people, and will approach visitors. Howerver, he does have a nipping history, so it's wise to keep an eye on him. He also has a fixation with gloves, and has made off with a few over the years!

Both of them are total water junkies, and love their wading pool. They're the only two who'll play in the water year-round, unless it's frozen. It's quite a sight to see when it's 35 degrees and cloudy and both of them are soaking wet! They also enjoy digging in their pen. Nancy has had to fill in some pretty big holes!
